TENBY’s legendary Boxing Day Swim, named one of Britain’s top 10 barmiest winter dives, it is as traditional as Christmas itself in the little West Wales town. Recently the swim featured in the ITV Wales series The Harbour. The show depicts a year in the life of the coastal community of Tenby.
The swim is organised by The Tenby Sea Swimming Association, which also hosts the summer season swim from Caldey Island to the Tenby mainland.
Over the years, the two events have allowed TSSA to collect almost £300,000 for local, national, and worldwide charities and good causes.
In 2019, the Tenby Boxing Day Swim saw 800 dippers take the plunge in the sunlight which shattered previous attendance records. Numbers are expected to stay high and constant for this year’s celebrations.
Swimmers are encouraged to raise funds for their own charitable causes or for TSSA-nominated charity.
The 50th Tenby Boxing Day Swim will take place on North Beach on Sunday, December 26th, 2021, beginning at 11 a.m.
At 11.30 a.m., the rush to the water begins, and swimmers may look forward to the warmth of the beach bonfire and hot soup upon their return.
Swimmers who registered for the swim on the official website will also get a commemorative gold certificate in the mail.
