The best way to start your visit to Torfaen is from up high, Coity Mountain is the place for that, the highest point in the county the journey up the mountain is beautiful and a perfect place to relax and recuperate. On your journey keep an eye out for Folly Tower, the construction date for this tower is actually unknown but is estimated to be during the mid 16th Century. See the tower whilst you can because in July 11 1940 during the second world war the War Office ordered it to be demolished in fear of it being a landmark for Lufwafte forces to target the nearby Royal Ordnance Factory. Moving away from the Northern area of Torfaen and into the Southern urbanised region, stop off at the Amgueddfa Torfaen Museum, the museum details the history, social, industrial and cultural heritage of the Torfaen valley and Pontypool.
