The Owls Trust, situated in Llandudno’s Bodafon Farm Park, is a tiny charity performing a large and vital work. They have one of the most extensive owl collections on public display in the UK.
Their work is divided into three sections. To begin, they rescue and rehabilitate wounded birds of prey. The wild birds are then nursed back to health, and when they are ready, they are released back into an appropriate environment. They are often requested to intervene in the rescue of “pet” owls. These birds are often frightened and malnourished. When possible, they provide them with a permanent home where they may recover a high quality of life in more spacious and species-appropriate circumstances.
Second, they teach young people and older groups about birds of prey, their role in our ecosystem, and how they can preserve their habitats to safeguard our countryside’s biodiversity.
Finally, they collaborate with international partners to establish and manage breeding stocks of the world’s most endangered owls. When endangered ecosystems are restored and protected, we will be able to boost threatened populations or even reintroduce new species.
