The Red Wharf Bay Vineyard looks out over the bay that bears its name. The Vineyard is a small, self-contained micro-vineyard in the Traeth Coch Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Some vines were planted in 2010, but the majority were planted in the spring of 2016. The trip begins in the vineyard with an explanation of how to grow grapes for wine and then follows you through the planting of the vines, three years until you hopefully receive your first harvest, and then the yearly cycle after that.
They’ll then discuss the Spanish connection – finding partners there, problems with the Common Agricultural Policy, the storey of “The Potters Village” near Córdoba, the town that makes leather handbags for many of the world’s top fashion houses, olive oil from 100-year-old trees – which you can taste if you wish- and their three wines, a white and two reds, which you can sample.
The tasting is followed by their delectable “Anglesey Tapas,” which you can enjoy with your wine in their wine garden, which overlooks the vineyard and Red Wharf Bay.
