From the stunning views of Snowdonia to the beautiful sandy beaches, there is a real variety when it comes to things you can do, not to mention the picture-perfect villages. If this hasn’t made you want to pack your bags and head off to Wales then this list definitely will!

1. It’s cheap to get there

A lot of the destinations in Wales are only a couple of hours travel time from one of the busiest travel hubs in the UK, London. So whether you prefer flying high in the sky or staying on the ground, you are really spoilt for choice when it comes to travel options. Flights are available from just £50, or if you’re not a fan of flying you can catch a train for only a fraction more of travel time with fares starting from as little as £14. If you’re budget conscious, there is also the option to get a coach there and if you book it well in advance you could bag a seat for just £1!

2. And it’s cheap to stay there

There is an abundance of places for you to stay in Wales, with many travelodges being placed around the major cities with double rooms starting from just £45 so you won’t break the bank. If you’re looking for something a little more cosy, there are plenty of B&B’s and guest houses around the cities and villages which will give you a more authentic taste of Wales at around the same price. If you enjoy self-catering or you’re going with a large group, you can rent a holiday cottage, there are different cottages to suit all types of budgets.

3. The beaches

When you think of Wales you may just think of fields, green and mountains, however, Wales also has some absolutely stunning sandy beaches to offer. Whether you are in Wales to have an action-packed adventure or a relaxing weekend to get away from it all, you simply have to visit one of the beaches or go to the county of Pembrokeshire which has miles of coastline for you to take in.

4. Snowdonia

Probably Wales’ most famous site and it’s clear to see why. An area of breathtaking natural beauty and is also a very popular site for climbing enthusiasts. It’s truly the perfect place to hike with miles upon miles of walking possible, cycling trails which go through forests, lakes and ancient fortresses, you will have an abundance of things to look at on your trail. You can even hire a guide tour to take you to the underground caves.

5. Places of historical interest

History buffs will have a whale of a time (no pun intended) in Wales. Wales has an abundance of historic sites for you to explore during your holiday with one of the most well-preserved and famous ones being Cardiff Castle which is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Whether you are in Cardiff or Pembrokeshire, there are plenty of historical sites for you to visit and learn about.
