Vaughan Williams’ enduring beauty The Lark Ascending is performed in-between two Mendelssohn masterpieces: the beautiful and romantic A Midsummer Night’s Dream Overture and his Symphony No 4, which depicts the Italian blue sky and open countryside.
Completing the programme is one of the most sympathetic settings of Shakespeare’s work, Gerald Finzi’s song cycle Let us Garlands Bring which was dedicated to Vaughan Williams on the occasion of his 70th birthday, and a new piece by Welsh composer Owain Llwyd, Y Gogarth, inspired by Llandudno’s Great Orme and its surrounding wildlife.
The talented WNO Orchestra are joined by concertmaster David Adams and WNO Associate Artist Aaron O’Hare.
