Christmas decorations
Step inside Chirk Castle and enjoy beautifully decorated Christmas trees lighting up the impressive rooms. You can see the castle festooned with decorations throughout the festive period.
- The castle is open every day in December (apart from 24 and 25 December).
- The castle interior is open from 11am.
- Last entry to the castle at 3.30pm.
Reverse Grotto
Come and meet Father Christmas in his reverse grotto at Home Farm (by the Ticket Office). He’ll be collecting donations for Oswestry and Borders food bank at weekends. We also welcome donations on weekdays, however the grotto is closed and Father Christmas will not be on site. Pop in any time during our opening hours to drop off your donation.
- Visit Father Christmas on 3 and 4, 10 and 11, and 17 and 18 December.
- 10.30am–3.30pm.
Winter walks
Winter is a fantastic time to explore Chirk’s beautiful parkland. So wrap up warm, bring some sturdy shoes and get ready to explore.
There are two main circular trails on the estate. One offers great views of the castle with Shropshire and Cheshire behind, and the other follows paths with a lovely variety of woodland and parkland.

If you’re feeling peckish, step inside the cosy tea-room where we have plenty of festive treats available every day. From hearty meals to light bites, hot drinks and delicious mince pies, there’s lots to choose from.
- The tea-room is open 10am–4pm.
- Closed 24 and 25 December.
