They will be weaving their magical festival amongst the landscape, buildings, castle and woodlands full of stories, performances, and live music for adults, young people and their families.
The festival turns 30 this year and they will be celebrating the diverse communities of Wales in the many languages of this land.
They will be announcing some of the artists confirmed on 28 October with the full artist announcement on 7 February 2023.
They will have their usual programme of the best storytellers in Wales, the UK and the world, alongside new storytelling adventures and new voices.
There will be stories walks, workshops, talks as well as ways to unwind and relax in this stunning setting.
They have limited spaces on both our Camping field and the Live-In Vehicle site. They anticipate these will reach capacity soon so they advise if you want to stay on site then book early.
The Time is Now to enjoy Beyond the Border Wales International Storytelling Festival 2023, a magical festival experience amongst the landscape, castle and woodlands of Dinefwr, with stories, performances and live music for adults, young people and families of all shapes and sizes.
The festival turns 30 this year and they will be celebrating the past, present and future of storytelling in Wales, through (the lens of) languages, stories and live music from across Europe and the world – with special international guests including Hungary’s ‘supervillain storyteller’ and feminist folklorist Csenge Zalka and Belgium’s ‘anarchic Musketeer’ Joe Baele.
Festival favourite Daniel Morden with fiddler extraordinaire Oli Wilson-Dickson share their rollickingly riotous blend of folktale fun for families. Plus, epic master wordsmiths, TUUP and Sally Pomme Clayton with atmospheric and sometimes risqué late night stories for adults!
Authentic traditions of music and story from West Africa with Balafon virtuoso N’famady Kouyaté and The Successors of the Mandingue meet a triple whammy of our Mycelium Contemporary Cyfarwyddion Mair Tomos Ifans, Jo Munton and Deb Winter sharing story morsels gathered from their year-long residencies across Wales.
A special blend of circus, dance and drama from partners Citrus Arts and chances to share your own story on Spoken Word Saturday with People Speak Up. There’s shows for families, early rise and shine play sessions for the little folk, performances inspired by Cad Goddeu: The Battle of the Trees and Carl Gough’s time travelling new piece Nexus, highlighting moments of decision which lead us hopefully towards brighter futures. All this, plus Cath Little, Alim Kamara, Christine Watkins, and many more artists, musicians and storytellers to be announced over the next few months.
As well as stories, music and outdoor arts, the festival includes walks and inspiring talks as well as plenty of ways to unwind, relax and enjoy local food, crafts and refreshment in this stunning setting.
They will be announcing more artists over the coming months with a full line up announcement in early 2023.
