Plas Newydd House and Garden

This magnificent mansion, set on the beaches of the Menai Strait and surrounded by stunningly gorgeous landscape, was rebuilt by James Wyatt in the 18th century. The magnificent romantic mural and the greatest display of Rex Whistler’s paintings may be found in the 1930s restyled interior, which is famed for its Rex Whistler association. There’s a lovely spring garden and Australasian arboretum, complete with an understory of shrubs and wildflowers, an Italianate-style summer patio, and autumn-colored massed hydrangeas. A forest path leads to a lovely rhododendron garden in the spring and early summer. The views across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Snowdonia from the house and gardens are truly breathtaking.
