Their award-winning Saltcote and Visitor Centre is a unique building on the banks of the Menai Strait in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, next door to Anglesey Sea Zoo in Brynsiencyn. They are proud to be one of Wales’ most innovative food businesses and offer a one-of-a-kind Behind the Scenes tour for anyone interested in salt’s place in their history, culture and in what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt PDO the world’s finest seasoning.
Sea salt was made on the island of Anglesey up until the late eighteenth century when it was halted after makers were fined for adulterating the sea brine with Cheshire rock salt. Today, Halen Môn has resurrected this age-old craft by combining traditional hand harvesting with brand new technology to produce the crunchy white flakes of Halen Môn. Unlike their predecessors, however, they don’t add anything.
