Swansea Council’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is a local gallery and a centre of excellence for the visual arts in Swansea, but also plays a vital role in the ecosystem of arts in the whole of Wales and beyond.
The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery supports emerging and established local artists as well as bringing some of the world’s leading artists to Wales – presenting major exhibitions and commissioning exceptional site specific and socially engaged work.
They have a wonderful collection of artworks and ceramics as well as works on paper, which form an important part of the city’s “cultural memory”. The gallery displays many of these works in their permanent collection but also encourage artists, curators and members of the public to curate exhibitions.
Glynn Vivian’s belief is that ‘Art Can Change Your Life’. They pride theirselves in their learning and engagement programme, reaching over 16,000 people a year. The gallery offers many ways to take part including talks, tours, workshops and activities, late nights and events through the year. As well they offer many ways to engage for both the regular gallery visitor and those who may not be so familiar with their work.
Everyone is very welcome. They hold they belief that art and creativity should be available for everybody, regardless of age, gender, race, disability, religious beliefs or sexual orientation.
