Glorious Gardens in Powys

The National Garden Scheme gives members of the public special access to over 3,500 beautiful private gardens across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Guernsey. They raise money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.

Gregynog Hall & Garden

Set within 750 acres, a designated National Nature Reserve with SSSI. Parkland with small lake and traces of a water garden. A mass display of rhododendrons, azaleas and unique yew hedge surround the sunken lawns. Unusual trees, woodland walks and arboretum. Good autumn colour.

Penmyarth House – Glanusk Estate

Crickhowell, Powys

The garden, adorned with many established plant species such as Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Acers, Camelia, Magnolia, Prunus, Dogwood and 300 cultivars of Oak, give a vast array of colour in the spring and summer months. Stunning views of the River Usk and the majestic Black Mountains. We will also be holding our annual Estate Fayre with over 30 artisan stands and locally sourced and produced food and drink. Tyn-y-Graig

Bwlch y Ffridd, Newtown, Powys

A garden at 300m with views of surrounding hills, variety of borders and areas inc hectare of meadow managed for biodiversity. Garden planted to achieve different moods inc a herb area, bright, white and pastel borders, rose garden, farmyard borders, fernery, fruit trees and vegetable beds. Meadow with woodland and large pond.

Bryngwyn Hall

Llanfyllin, Powys

Stunning grade II* listed 9 acre garden with 60 acres parkland design inspired by William Emes. Prunus subhirtella ‘Autumnalis’, varieties of hamamelis, mahonia, early flowering daphnes, corylopsis and chimonanthus. Woodland garden carpeted with snowdrops then stunning show of thousands of daffodils, camassias and fritillaries in the long grass down to serpentine lake. Unusual trees, shrubs and unique Poison Garden.

Rock Mill

Montgomery, Powys

A river runs through this magical 3 acre garden in a beautiful wooded valley. Colourful borders and shrubberies, specimen trees, terraces, woodland walks, bridges, extensive lawns, fishponds, orchard, herb and vegetable beds, beehives, thatched roundhouse, remnants of industrial past (corn mill and railway line) offer much to explore.

Child friendly activities (supervision required) inc croquet, animal treasure hunt, wilderness trails, cockleshell tunnel. Sensible shoes and a sense of fun/adventure recommended. Much to explore.
