Sanctuary
The Sanctuary section includes the Crypt, the Outer Pool, and the Small Chapel. Visitors are requested to remain quiet in this area of the Well grounds, aware of being in a holy space and of the needs of those who may have come to pray, seek healing, or just find a place of calm and peace.
Outer Pool & Crypt
Explore the tomb that conceals the source of the healing waters. The spring emerges from the bottom open crypt and runs into the huge outdoor bathing pool. The crypt is a two-story Late Perpendicular Gothic structure built in the early 16th century. Margaret Beaufort, King Henry VII’s mother, is credited with building the vault.
